The New York Liberty of the WNBA in turn took up residence at the venue in 2021. The venue’s naming rights were sold to the British Barclays banking group in 2007, five years prior to opening. The stadium hosts several NCAA basketball events, including the annual Legends Classic and Barclays Center Classic tournaments, and it previously hosted the Atlantic Coast Conference tournaments in 2017 and 2018. The arena has hosted notable UFC MMA matches, including UFC 208, UFC 223 and UFC Fight Night in 2019, along with wrestling events such as the WWE’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs event in 2012, NXT Takeover in 2015 and SummerSlam in 2016. Recent artists to perform at the venue include Twenty One Pilots, Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato, Phil Collins and Shania Twain, among many others.
